History of HUSS
HUSS was first established with the name of Higher School of Economic and Social Sciences as a nonprofit organization in Babolsar Grand Hotel area (Current Central Organization of UMZ) in order to train the required human resources in the fields of economics, accounting, finance, social economy and law in 1966. In 1970, it became a Higher Education Institution.
In the following years and with the establishment of University of Mazandaran, it was announced as one of UMZ faculties. After the Revolution and re-opening of the university, this educational unit was named “Faculty of Economics” but since 1981, it goes by the name of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and its activities continued.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences currently has 9 departments, 78 faculty members and 17 staff members with the task of teaching and training more than 2,900 students in three levels of undergraduate, postgraduate, and postgraduate degrees.
It should be noted that the educational and administrative workspace of the faculty was in the city center of Babolsar from the beginning to 1998 and in September of that year, it was transferred to the new building in the university campus.
